2015-17 Departmental Grants

$30,000 Grants to 15 Undergraduate Departments of Religion and Religious Studies

This grant-making program brings grant project directors into a consultative process to refine the design, activities, and evaluation process for their funded grant projects.

In Spring 2015, we sent a Request for Proposals to faculty who had previously participated in Wabash Center workshops or colloquies. We  accepted letters of intent for 15 undergraduate departments grants up to $30,000 each.

The approved grant projects explore teaching and learning issues encountered in religious or theological studies’ classrooms and contribute to the capacity for sustained pedagogical conversations within the department or college.

Project directors from these approved projects gathered for a series of peer-to-peer consultative workshops.

  • September 24-27, 2015 – Project Development Consultation
  • October 14-16, 2016 – Project Director Meeting
  • November 3-5, 2017 – Summative Conference for participating schools

These meetings helped the project directors refine the design, structure, and processes of evaluative learning for their grant projects through structured exercises and peer conversation.  All costs for these meetings were borne by the Wabash Center separate from the grant funding.
