Messianic Idea in Judaism, pages 49-77

This essay takes us a little beyond ourselves into the history of the Sabbatian movement, the most significant Messianic movement within Judaism since the time of Jesus. Scholem suggests that rabbinic Judaism has real trouble with Messianism because of the possibility Messianism holds that the Torah will be radically altered when the End of Time arrives.
