Thur 24 Intro: Overview of course.  Discuss topics for research. Select 2 of 4 course topics.  Decide on interviews or paper.  For next class read Finnegan,  Johnson & Toulmin.  Assignment: post a paragraph, respond to readings by giving your analysis of what makes anything morally right or wrong.
Tues 29 Discuss basis for knowing what is right or wrong.  For next class, Barnes, ch. 8
Assignment for next class: post an example of each stage described in ch. 8 
Thur 31 Discuss Barnes and examples.  For next class read Fowler and then Kolhberg (+summary of K).  Assignment: make a list in margins of texts of where your experiences don't match F's and K's claims.

Tues   5 Discuss Fowler and Kohlberg.  For next class read Flanagan's criticisms and evaluate them mentally.
Thur   7 For next class read Boone and Barkley on biblical morality.  Assignment: post a paragraph for or against the thesis that obedience to bible and/or tradition is best.
Tues 12 Discuss divine command and community moralities.  For next class read Fagothy on natural law.  Assignment: write one paragraph agreeing with F, OR offering a better basis for moral choices.
REVISIONS BEGIN HERE:
