RELIGION:_____________________; Web location:http://www._____________________________
This method is to apply software(making a page on the Web)engineering methods to
learning support systems. It is user centered and requires active student involvement
(engagement) in the learning process by personal research and interacting with other
students on a team with particular roles while everyone is concern with not only the
tools(computers, pens, pencils, note pads, graphics, etc.,but with the CONTENT[I.E. THE
RELIGION, YOU ARE COMMUNICATING]. Always ask, what is our underlying message of the
product?
CONTENT VERSUS DELIVERY or CONTENT AND DELIVERY BOTH COMMUNICATING THE MESSAGE.
1.Director: facilitator and coordinator (Instructional Designer) perhaps also
responsible for History and founders (if they claim any) of that Religion (CONTENT). She
or He will be responsible for the INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN.
(Student Name): _________________________________
2.Producer: someone who will be computer internet literate or teachable to get the TEAM on
the web; perhaps while examining the Moral teachings of the religion (CONTENT).
(Student Name): _________________________________
3.Graphics Coordinator: (Aesthetic coordinator), Audio (e.g.music), Movements, and perhaps
will examine TIME and SPACE, e.g. Architecture, and Day(s) and time of rituals and / or
services (cf.www.Digit.alworshop.co.uk/psp/HTM (for Paint Shop Pro[Version 3]). Learn
about WAVE files, Midi for music (i.e.condensing for file space purposes), and a
Syntheizer Chip in the Machine (what are these elements?)
(Student Name): _________________________________
4.Subject Matter / Research Coordinator: responsible for domain content and bibliography /
resources and copywrite conside-rations. This person could be responsible also for Ritual
/ Services.
(Student Name): _________________________________
5.Learner Instructor: this person is responsible for the delivery and coordination of
roles in the actual presentation. This person could research the relationship(s) with
other religions of similar and dissimilar religions, and if there is not a sixth person
then,also #6
(Student Name): _________________________________
6.Gopher: (Stage Manager,Prop coordinator, prompter,etc.). This person will search out the
Church (in the Yellow Pages), coordinate the visit to the church and service, date and
time; and, the interview time and place with the Pastor, Rabbi, Clerk, etc. and the
layperson who are to interviewed and prepares the list of the questions to be asked. This
person will serve as a kind of devil's advocate, i.e., demanding EVALUATION ALL ALONG IN
THE PROCESS AND FINAL PRODUCT AND DELIVERY.

It is a Scenario based design.
Start with an outline in simple sentence structure to check your grammatical writing
skills and have it approved in the learning center.
It should contain:
A.What is your purpose, your 'story' you wish to tell
B.What methods of research will you use.
l.Library(on the internet or here at Barry[and even then perhaps on the Web]);check the
web page on World Religions on your particular religion,e.g.:
http://www.networx.on.ca/~eaf/religion/htm
2.Video/Graphic/Sound Clips
3.A visit to the Church of the Religion of the Team's choice, which the professor has
approved AHEAD OF TIME.
a) an interview, prearranged with the pastor, priest, rabbi, clerk of the meeting,
parson, reverend, etc. and a lay member (woman or man) who is a practicing member of that
community.
b) attendance at a 'usual', (not a special event or feast) service. Notice everybody and
everything (e.g. whether they sit, stand, kneel), what objects or material they use, what
is the architectural style(recall that 'as a person practices(worships), so they believe.'
What does the space and the time factors communicate. What is the essence of the
service,etc."?
c) ask questions of the people you interview,e.g.What is the meaning of life? Is life real
or only an illusion? Where are we going? Is there a 'heaven' or a 'hell'; what about
'salvation', 'redemption', 'sin','virtue', the 'good life', 'immortality', eternal life.
Where did we come from. Why?
4.The Statement of Purpose must be reviewd in the Learning Center.(lst Fl. of Garner to the right as you enter the first floor doorss to the left of theelevator).Hand into your professor for approval, acceptance and permission to proceed.
A.Gather your information from written and/or media resources and as well from your
'phenomonological experience' of the persons practicing the religion in their space and
time;gather your other elements from the Web, or outside graphics, music etc.
B.Go to the Computer Lab and ask e.g. Alberto Fernandez to please work with you and to put
you religion on my page under Theo. 103. I will have spoken to Alberto Fernandez, and/or
to Tom Ayers.
C.Create the page on your religion to demonstrate and communicate your knowledge and
experience with your classmates.
A.Demonstrate and communicate your project and findings
B.Collect the critiques from your peers(average them out[5 % of your grade])and from the
professor(15 % of your grade). Evaluate yourself on your personal critique(10 % of your
grade);adding them together to see what percent of the 30 % of your presentation grade you
will receive for that part of your final grade.
The professor in this model serves as a tutor, moderator resource person, tertiary and
primary/final EVALUATOR. The professor will provide information on the other religions not
covered by the students;this material will include definitions of terminology, analyzing
and synthesizing, etc.
