Proposal abstract :
Our cluster will physically gather twice, once in the summer of 2023 and again in the summer of 2024. Both meetings will be in Lake Tahoe. Both meetings will begin on Friday and conclude on Sunday. Between each gathering, we commit to participating in quarterly zoom check-in calls. In preparation for the first meeting, we will read bell hooks’ Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom and Howard Thurman’s Disciplines of the Spirit. In preparation for the second meeting, we will read bell hooks’ Teaching Community: A Pedagogy of Hope and James Cone’s Said I Wasn’t Gonna Tell Nobody: The Making of a Black Theologian.
