Derek Nelson

Derek Nelson keeps trying to teach at Wabash College, where he is the Stephen S. Bowen Professor of the Liberal Arts and Director of the Lilly Endowment-funded Wabash Pastoral Leadership Program. He also keeps trying to write more and better books about the Reformation’s theology in general, and Martin Luther’s in particular. The Oxford Encyclopedia of Martin Luther (2017) and Resilient Reformer (2015) are examples of the latter. He spends as much time in his woodshop making fine furniture as he can possibly get away with, except that he likes to fish, cook, brew, hike, play with his young daughter and about a million other things in his down time. He has lots of degrees on his wall and awards in his drawer but the most important one to him is his baptismal certificate.
